  • High School Diploma: The minimum requirement when applying as a personal trainer is a high school diploma or a GED. Your educational level should not stop here as your high school diploma should only be your key to acquiring a higher degree of education from training and other courses, which will eventually be your edge as a professional.

You may not be required to present a college degree, but most employers nowadays look for a personal training certification from their candidates. You can choose from a variety of certifying bodies like the American Council on Exercise (ACE), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASCM), National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA).
